About Us

Our History

Good Shepherd Catholic Church in McCormick, South Carolina, has been a welcoming Catholic presence in McCormick County since its founding in 1964. The parish began when the former Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church building in Greenwood was relocated to McCormick, where it was dedicated as the Church of the Good Shepherd to serve the growing Catholic population in the area.

Over the past six decades, Good Shepherd has grown into a vibrant parish within the Diocese of Charleston, serving both year-round residents and the many families who have made the McCormick area home. The parish offers the celebration of the Mass, the sacraments, religious education, and numerous ministries that foster faith, fellowship, and service. Throughout its history, the church has remained committed to proclaiming the Gospel and building a welcoming community centered on Christ.

In 2024, Good Shepherd celebrated its 60th Anniversary, honoring six decades of faith, stewardship, and community. The parish commemorated this milestone with a special celebration and the publication of a 60th Anniversary history book documenting the church's journey, its pastors, parishioners, and the many blessings God has bestowed upon the parish since its founding.
