Bereavement
Ministry Chair: Linda DeShano
The mission of the Bereavement Committee is as follows:
-
Administer to bereaved parishioners and their families immediately following the death of a loved one. This could include help to plan a funeral or memorial service.
-
Encourage pre-planning of the funeral liturgy. Pre-planning will allow a parishioner to select the readings, hymns, and family participants for their funeral Mass at a non-critical time. This may be a welcome gift to the families at an emotionally difficult time.
-
Celebrate a special Mass on All Souls' Day to honor deceased loved ones who have died within the last year or are having a special "memorial" anniversary such as 5 years, 10 years, etc. Family members are encouraged to participate by lighting a candle for their loved ones during the Mass.
